Hey all, I'm just wondering if any of you know of any other music sharing software that would be accessible to use with jaws besides winmx. Considering that winmx is down right now, I am needing something else to download music.

Hi,
I believe Win MX is back up, and running just fine.
Take care,

I still can't get WinMX to connect. I use Ares to download music. It's not as accessible as WinMX, but it's usable with Jaws. It requires a lot of routing Jaws to PC and using your left mouse button.

Has anybody used limewire?

What ever you do, stay as far away from limewire as you possibly can, because it will not only install new.net, but free bonzy buddy, along with a butload of spiware. Plus I've heard it's totaly not speach friendly at all. Trust me you do not want free bonzy buddy, it's a bitch to get rid of.

Limewire isn't accessible at all. I just tried it a few weeks ago and wasn't able to navigate through the program with Jaws at all.

The fix RR mentioned does work; we're using it on 2 computers here at home. It's the most accessible I've found yet, WinMX I mean, although, there is also Gnuclius and KazaaKPP.

for some reason i have been experiencing some difficulties with using Gnuclius... any tips on exactly how to use it? I installed the scripts and everything, i just need to know where to start?

I found that direct connect was vary screen reader friendly. The trouble comes when trying to find a hub, although I'll be the first to admit that I've not done very well in that department.

Also, call me weird, but when I wanted music, I downloaded it from one of those irc fileserves. Not the easiest to navigate, and you have to be rather quick on the draw, but it works.

With Gnuclius my trouble came in connecting. If you have an active connection and it does connect; which it's suppose to do automatically you will get a search button with the other buttons such as traffic, shared files and so on. If you get the search button tab to it and press return. This will take you into a window to do your searches, but unlike most progs the text is not selected, so, select the text by pressing control+end and then type in your search phraise. When the list comes up select the one you want to download, press tab and then the space button. This will start it downloading. To see what is downloading go to the "Windows" menu and click on the first one in the list. It should say something like "1, Connect". However, keep in mind. Unless you specify the file type it will come back with more file types then you knew existed. HTH. If you have any specific questions I'll be glad to try and answer them. Mind you, I prefer WinMX over Gnuclius...

If you got Gnucleus from JFW lite it probably won't connect cause it's out of date. You're better off going to their website at www.gnucleus.com

Ok, just got an mp3 player and I'm looking for a music sharing program that won't cause me many problems since I'm not the most technically adept. I tried limewire but like others have said before it doesn't work with Jaws much to my disappointment. So what program would you reccomend for me to start with?

I've used bittorrent and DC++ for Loveline; Bittorrent is also alright for movies, but I don't have iether one any longer. If you know what you're doing (Which, for most of you, you probably don't,) you can find music with DC++, in a variably safe enviornment. But seriously folks, stick with the web-search crawlers; no software needed, no viruses or spyware. See post above.

Dc++ would be a better alternative, trust me I've been using it since febuary 2002, but be awhere allot of the owners of hubs you connect to are very very strict. An example would be fake sharing, let's say you downloaded loverboy - working for the weekend, but when you go to play it, it's really sharil crow, the user having the fake file will be banned by a hub opperater quicker than you can say my bad.
